Hi - could you please advise whether Acrobat Standard can edit pdfs downloaded from the net eg I need to highlight text from Government Documents. I know that Acrobat X Pro can do this because I'm running the trial version; I may purchase this or because I don't really need the all functionality of X Pro - I'm thinking about the Standard version. I would be grateful for any advice.

Yes it can - but actually, if you only want to apply text highlights or sticky notes to a PDF, you can do that with the free Adobe Reader X as well!
