LR4.1RC Exporting sRGB Issue

Hi, when I export in Window 7 with LR4.1RC, it doesnt seem to be attaching the Color Representation: sRGB when I open the properties of the file and look at the details.  So when I preview in windows viewer or any other program but LR or PS it is not rendering with my applied actions.  If I open the image in PS CS5 and choose edit>assign profile and then choose sRGB and save and close then it will finally have the Color Represention: sRGB, I have never had this issue until upgrading.  Anyone have a clue as to what is going on?  See below the "Color represention" should say "sRGB" but it is blank even though I exported in LR with sRGB selected

    That's a Windows problem.  Goodness only knows what Windows thinks it's reporting in the "Color representation" field in properties, but it's not the colour space, nor is it the presence or otherwise of an embedded profile. 

     

    LR (AFAIK) always embeds a profile.  Even though Windows may not be able to figure out the colour space, it's definitely there on an LR export.  I've just checked an export from LR4.1RC: the profile is there, Windows doesn't report any "colour representation". 

     

    I have some jpeg files where Windows reports the "Color representation" and some where it doesn't.  No idea why the difference.

    What is weird is if I apply the sRGB from photoshop the picture looks correct in windows photo viewer, but if I just run my color action in PS and don't assign the sRGB then the picture looks like no action was applied, its dull and flat in Windows Photo Viewer.  I guess my concern is if I give this to a client on a DVD and they are using a windows program to view the photo I want to make sure they will see the image with the action applied.  I do all my white balancing in lightroom on the RAW file then I export sRGB .jpg to run my action in PS, so if I don't take the extra step to assign a profile then it doesn't view correctly in windows photo viewer.

    CSS Simon,

    Do you see any difference when viewed with "Windows Photo Viewer" wether or not the "Color Representation" was reported on your file?  This is where the issue bothers me.

    No difference.

     

    I've just checked 2 jpegs - one that Windows reports as "Color Representation" sRGB and one that gives a blank.  Both are actually sRGB.  In both cases, Windows Picture viewer correctly colour-manages, and looks the same as LR.  I viewed on a wide-gamut monitor, so if colour management wasn't working, I'd have seen immediately.

    Not sure what to do, maybe have to pay Adobe support for some help on this one..

    Why don't you post the suspect photo here?  (Use the camera icon to include it.)  Then we can take a detailed look at what might be going wrong...

    What the Windows Properties dialog shows you is the Color Space Exif tag. The only two values allowed in the EXIF color space field are (1) sRGB and (2) unspecified. This basically means that there is no way to tell what color space (ICC profile) to use if the color space is not sRGB.

     

    LR always embeds a profile (but does not set the Color Space tag), which is more relevant than the color space tag (which might be of limitted use if no profile is included).
