App rejected due to subscription placeholders

Hi all,

 

An App submitted by one of our clients was rejected due to placeholder images that showed up when it was tested on iPad 3 (see images).

(we assume it's iPad 3 because of the 1536x2048 screenshots).

 

  1. Is this a Viewer Builder issue?
  2. Should he:
    1. Just go and generate a new app, or
    2. Go through the entire process of setting the assets?

    Wild guess here…did they supply images for both resolutions?

    Thanks Bob,

     

    I already susspected that.

    Further investigations brought up that the app is a v19 and that iPad 3 images were not supplied, because:

    1. They were not mandatory, and
    2. They logically thought that if the retina images are not mandatory, the standard resolution images will be used for both retina and non-retina iPads. Which makes perfect sense.

     

    Are we required to load images for both resolutions or was this issue fixed in the latest update of the Viewer Builder?

    Honestly, I don’t know. I think it’s always safest to supply everything.

     

     

     

    One of my feature requests is to have check boxes for this type of thing including whether you have one or two orientations. I just finished an app and it’s only horizontal yet I can’t create the app without vertical placeholders and splash screens.

    Single orientation App that sticks to H/V view no matter for the device orientation...

     

    Sound a bit un-tabletized, but makes sense...

    Yes, this is a bug in the Viewer Builder. If you don't specify iPad 3 images, the low-res images should be used. Instead, the testing images appear. This bug has been reported and should be fixed soon. The workaround is to specify the iPad 3 images and resubmit the viewer. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    Honestly, I find dual orientation apps a waste of time and effort. Pick one and be done with it.

     

     

     

    IIRC, when iOS4 was released one of the biggest complaints from users was there was no way to lock the orientation of the tablet. That tells me that people don’t go turning the tablet all that often.

     

     

     

    Yes, it’s nice to have a choice but if designed properly a single orientation is quite sufficient.

    despite the Viewer Builder problems here, Apple requires everything that is

    app-related to be supplied in both orientations, e.g. Splash Screens. the

    library view is dual orientation no matter how the folios are designed.

    The viewer Builder needs to be more specific to that and it looks like

    Adobe is fixing this, but these kind of rejections are really bad for a

    real life case, of course.
