how to print a LIST of all the layers

Does anyone know how to print a LIST of all the layers. I am not asking how to print the document or the individual layers in a document. I would like to know how to print a LAYER LIST........Anyone?

    Which version of Illustrator are you using?

    No way to have Illustrator do that. Take a Screenshot and print.

    I have old versions 8 thru CS4, both PC and MAC.......this drawing was created in CS2......but I don't think that matters.........Sometimes you need a list of layers to quickly see all the layers names or status in a drawing........you can do this in Autocad but I don't know how to do this in AI. This drawing has 102 layers.............SCREENSHOT is not an option here...............

    Probably not exactly what you‘re going to do, but in recent versions of Illustrator you may save a copy of the file, delete all objects in that file, then save as .svg.

     

    At the bottom of the SVG Options dialog, click the Show SVG code button and see if that text file is something you can use.

    Kurt...........that is a great Idea. Never would have occurred to me to try that one, it will involve some cut and paste but faster than selecting each layer name one at a time. THANX!

    this script will add a text frame with a list of layer names

     

    var idoc = app.activeDocument;
var itext = idoc.textFrames.add();
itext.contents = "";
var layerCount = idoc.layers.length;
 
for (i=0; i<layerCount; i++) 
    itext.contents += "Layer " + i  + ": " + idoc.layers[i].name + "\r";
