http://www.howtogeek.com/79785/add-a-user-account-in-windows-vista/
make the account administrator not standard , check does the illustartor works in the new user account...
Just tried that method. There was no repair button im properties but there was a "restore" I hit that and nothing worked. Do u guys think its the "illustratorfnt.lst"
By the way my settings folder for Illustrator Cs5 was empty but I still had the settings folder for Cs4, but that had stuff in it. Do u think that might be the issue
PS, I appreciate all the help i am getting here. I know i sound like a noob, but i am new to windows
You said that the settigns folder for Illustrator cs5 was empty , then for sure it is the permission issue.
Two things you can do:-
1) Enable the hidden admin account and then launch Illustrator and check in the "Administrator" account, is it works then copy and paste the settings folder in the normal user account and check;-
to enable hidden admin account follow :- http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-adminis trator-account-on-windows-vista/
2) Check the permission of the Illustrator cs5 settings folder ,
Hey, trying to understand what you are saying: here is what i did
1) I created the Administrator account
2) I then tried to open Illustrator( didnt work)
3) Checked User/Admin/Appdata/Roaming/Adobe
- There was no illustrator file only Cs5.5 service manager file & Flash
Did I follow your step correctly?
No....
You dont have to craete the Administrator account , it is alreay present but is hidden all you have to do is enable it....check the link posted earlier for the same it tells the step you need to follow.
Go to Administrator account.
Open Illustrator check , does it work fine , If yes....go to User/Administrator/Appdata/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe IllustratorCS5 Settings, copy it and paste it in your users folder
haven,
What happens if you:
1) Uninstall,
2) Run the Cleaner Tool, http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
3) Reinstall?
If you are not even getting the splash screen then that folder will be empty , because it is the preferences folder and preferences get created when the program luanches but in your case this not happening.
Secondly , all the troubleshooting done earlier except Uninstall and re-install ,is product specific however however I dont think that is the case in your situation.
Go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp
locate amt3.log , delete it
Launch your Illustrator , it will crash
then go back to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp
and collect the amt3.log and paste it on Pastebin.com website and provide the link here , to analysis
I beleive you are looking at the right place ,
Click the start Button
At the bottom serach box , type "amt3.log" , does the file show up in the list , if no
then I would say contact Adobe support ,and get this fixed.
The problem could be either at the time of installation or launch.
also can you share the install logs:-
1 .Navigate to the log files in one of the following folders:
North America
Europe, Middle East and Africa
Asia Pacific
