Why does the text color-modifying tool Format -->Color  always make me create a "Selector Name"?

Might anyone here know, please, why the text color modification command:

 

Format --> Color 

 

always forces me to create a

 

"Selector Name"

 

in CS-5 & 5.5?    That extra step each time sure can slow down my editing momentum.   And why doesn't Dreamweaver seem to want to save those selector names that I create, such as "green" or "black" or "red"?

    It might be relevant that I don't use templates or css style sheets YET, although I think that will change so that I can expedite new page creation...

     

    Thanks for any insights anyone can offer...

    Yes, it's very relevant tha you don't use CSS yet.

     

    All formatting in DW is now done via CSS which means defining selectors and rules for each different format.

     

    This is a very efficient way of formatting pages.

     

    If you come from a manual formatting background (highlight word, click Bold) then it may seem tedious. But it's just a different workflow.
