Adobe Community: Elements 10 is not recognizing my camcorder

What model of camcorder is it?

Is it tape-based, hard drive-based or does it record video on a memory card?

How is your camcorder connected to your computer?

And how are you trying to connect to it?

Steve I have a Canon VIXIA HFG10. It is internal, however I have added two cards. I connect using the USB. If I go to files

it is connected and I have access to the files. I will look up the type of recording device.

With flash memory, and USB connections, you will want to Copy your flash memory card's full folder structure to your internal HDD, and then use Get Media to Import (not Capture) the files into a Project. Capture is only for a tape-based camera, connected via FireWire/IEEE-1394a/iLink cable.

And don't forget to set up your Premiere Elements project with the proper settings for that type of video! Otherwise, you'll have problems later.
