Hi JC,
Could you try the steps listed in the following FAQ, then try installing again? Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks Chris but the first step in the steps listed in your FAQ above states to install A Flash player whiich is exactly what I cannot do: the message " error: failed to register "appears just BEFORE the end of the install...So what do I do now?

Just skip the first step, the last step will ask you to install again (if you had to skip in step 1.)
