License server communication error: E_ACT_NOT_READY

We are getting the following message when trying to open an Adobe Epub book within ADE:  Error getting license.  License server communication Problem:  E_ACT_NOT_READY

 

Does anyone know what is causing the error message?

    Could you try installing the new ADE 2.0 and check if that helps.

    Hi,

     

    I have the same problem and i have a Mac ; does annyone have a solution for this error code (the error code is in ADE 2.0) ?

    I too have this problem with ADE 2.0 on Mac (Mountain Lion). It ws working fine a few days ago and now I can't download books from our public library any more.

    What users and others are reporting is that the Adobe server is the issue.

    Apparently, most of the time it's a traffic volume issue, not a 'down

    server'.  The only answer posted on the forum that works is 'keep

    trying'....  Not reassuring, is it?

    I don't believe that explains it. At the same time I get consistent failures on my Mac I got consistent successes on my Windows PC for the same items.

    The next thing to check is whether or not the Mac's security will let you

    interact with the Adobe server....

    Given that when I did this from Windows, it was from Windows running under Parallels on my Mac machine, obviously yes, it does.

    I would appear an idiot for asking - except that you didn't mention that

    you were running Windows on your Mac.

     

    Since security doesn't seem to be the issue, what version of Mac OS are you

    running?  There were some issues with Lion until Mac rolled out Mountain

    Lion.

     

    Otherwise, no other suggestions - sorry!

    Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you were an idiot at all! Your question was entirely valid; when I said "obviously" I meant obviously to me :-)

     

    I am running Mountain Lion. This is all freshly installed in the past week, as I move off Windows. But when I first installed ADE on the Mac, I tested it (as I have been testing other software I rely on) and it worked fine.
