Font Problem in InDesign - same document, same font, different thickness

I was wondering if someone can help me with this problem

 

I have a document that I am producing, and on one page the font apppears thicker than on other pages.

 

I have tried changing the font, but the problem remains.

 

This problem carries through when I export to PDF, but when I print a physical copy, this problem disappears.

 

Can anyone help me with this?

 

Below please see a screen cap of the problem.

 

I am using InDesign for Windows, CS5.5 Version 7.5

    Is there transparency on the page?

     

    This looks like the common "emboldening" effect when there is transparency on a page. It shows on screen and in low res preints, but not, I think, in press output.

    Hi Peter.

     

    How would I determine if there is a transparency? I don't believe I put one in, but I did past an image into the doc out of a word doc.

    Looks like that is the problem - is it due to a photoshop effect? I cut the image out of the page and the problem disappeared.

     

    I had a jpeg and a PSD image.

    The photoshop image had a transparent Layer in it.
