Acrobat 8.1 Program stopped working properly due to a problem

When I open a pdf file with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1 on my Windows 7 computer I get the message "Program stopped working properly due to a problem, close the program."
The logbook shows the following message:

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

    32 or 64-bit machine and OS? In any case, you should probably update Acrobat, currently at AA8.3.1. That may resolve the problem. Keep in mind that AA8 is not certified for Win7 and so some things may fail in any case. But the update is your first step.
