Recently my computer crashed and I had to get a new one. I re-installed PSE 10 and have just realized that many of the content files are missing. The fonts that you get when you click on the "T" are not there at all. There are no shapes - arrows, circles, stars, etc. A lot of the graphics are also missing - no snowman, flourishes, balloons, etc. It doesn't seem to matter which of the icons you click on, only backgrounds and frames appear and some of these are missing also. I am using "show all" to see if they show up but they aren't. Can you tell me what has happened?
Re-create the media database.
Close Photoshop Elements Editor and Organizer.
Navigate to:
Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us
Win Vista/7:
C:\Program Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us
Macintosh:
//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/10.0/Locale/en_US/
Delete the file Mediadatabase.db3.
Re-launch Photoshop Elements Editor. A progress bar appears as the media database is re-created. Wait for this process to complete.
You may need to reveal hidden files on your system before starting.

The editor saved prefs often get corrupted. You may need to rebuild the editor preferences to resolve any conflicts. Hold down the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst double clicking on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File? Click on Yes Then wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences.
Did the above step. Not sure how long you're supposed to wait but nothing has changed under Content, in fact the icons are no longer usable in that they are not showing up as they should so you can "click" on them. Also, now a new problem in that under effects there are no longer any Layer Styles or Photo effects. The photo effects that I had purchased and previously loaded are gone. These were XML, ANT and PNG files and had appeared and worked.
If you deleted the db3 file as suggested it will be in the recycle bin. When you restarted the editor it will have attempted to create a new db3 file. Go back to the folder and if you see a db3 file rename it and then send it to the recycle bin. Locate the original db3 file and click restore to original location.
Did what you said above. The third party effects are still in the effect folder and now show up again. (Thanks for you help on that matter.) However, the original problem still exists for the Content folder. Decided to take a look at my laptop as PSE is also on it. All the backgrounds, frames, graphics and shapes are in in the program, however, the icons don't function so you have to access them three the drop down boxes. The PSE on the laptop is the same one as on my PC.
PSE uses the system fonts. If you have a complete set in your system 32 folder and they show up in other apps e.g. word processing then they should show up in Elements. It’s difficult to advise you as you have a non-standard installation. I can only make suggestions. 1. Make backup copies of all your third party content. 2. Uninstall PSE10 via the control panel. 3. Go to the Adobe products page and download the free trial of PSE10 - input your product serial number to make it permanent. 4. Check your content and fonts to ensure you have a standard working installation. 5. Consult the download sites for your third party stuff and make sure you have correctly followed all the installation instructions before re-installing.
Where do I find the other apps e.g. wood processing information and where do I find my content and fonts as you mentioned.
I can go to the Adobe products page and download the free trial, however, when I loaded the PSE 10 onto my computer and input my serial number it wouldn't allow me to use it because I had apparently downloaded it more times than you were allowed. I contacted Adobe thru the Live Chat, explained my situation and Chethan N. and he changed the license seats so I was able to install it. Am I going to have a problem using my Serial # again?
Already had saved all of the third party content so I'm okay there.
I deleted PSE 10 as indicated by 99jon then went to the Adobe website and tried to download the trial version of PSE 10. I have been unable to download the trial version. When trying to download it says it's going to take over 5 hours but it ended up erroring out after 2 hours. Tried again and it said it would take over 5 hours (this was about noon) but at 11:00 p.m. and just as it said it had 9 sec remaining it again errored out. I have satellite internet service and contacted them about the length of time and they indicated it had to do with the server at your end. I am not without PSE 10 do do any editing with. Any suggestions? Am I going to have to go out and buy PSE 10 again?!
Not sure if the first comment when through so doing it again.
