can't monitor audio while recording using mac OS

    Can you elaborate on the details a bit more?  Are you attempting to monitor in waveform view, or multitrack view?  Monitoring is not available in waveform view.  In multitrack view, you need to first arm your track for record by pressing the [R] button, then enable input monitoring by pressing the [I] button next to it.

    I am viewing the waveform and the spectral display.  I do not see any R or

    I buttons.  I was able to monitor the audio yesterday but not today.  Not

    sure what i did to stop the input monitoring mode.  the record playback

    works fine. i am recording old cassette tapes.

    Why is this "Monitoring is not available in waveform view"?

     

    So if I'm making a recording, I can monitor if I'm recording in multitrack?  WTF?

    Monitoring input whilst recording is mainly a function of your soundcard/audio interface. It will depend on whether the manufacturer supplies proper ASIO drivers for it or if it relies on the OS drivers for audio monitoring.
