Is there a way to force a PDF file to always open at the beginning?

When opened a second time, the PDF file will open to the last place it was scrolled to, when previously viewed.

 

This happens with PDF files created with Acrobat 9 (after update) and Acobat X.

 

This happens online (Desktop), when user clicks on link to PDF in a web page.

 

Windows, XP, Vista, & 7.

 

It seems like the PDF if "remembering" the user's last placed scrolled to, and, when file is re-opened, it opens up down the page (or file) where the user last left off.

 

How can I force the PDF to always open at the beginning?

    With the PDF open in Acrobat, ctrl-D>initial view and select page 1.

    I tried that, and it unfortunately does not work.

     

    I was wondering if I could insert JavaScript that would make it jump to the beginning when it's opened, to override this?

    Yes it will work, but only if you have turned off the preference to remember your position:

     

    Edit > Preferences > Documents > Restore last view settings when reopening documents

    Yes, actually you can do that.

    Just embed this piece of code in the document (not inside a function):

    this.pageNum = 0;
