v10.0.0 Cannot zoom with keyboard until any menu is shown

I have Adobe Reader X [version 10.0.0] and when I open a PDF, I cannot zoom with keypresses
ctrl+numpad_plus
ctrl+numpad_minus

until I have caused the application to show any set of menu options [eg click 'File' menu with mouse, press alt+f to show file menu etc.]

Any idea why?

Is this fixed in a newer version (I have no authority to install and test myself)

    I do not know if this is something that was wrong in 10.0.0; I just tested it on 10.1.3 (without menu bar / tool bar), and it works fine.

     

    P.S. you can toggle the menu and tool bars using F9 and F8.

    Based on your answer I had 10.1.3 installed for me and the problem has gone - I assume an issue with 10.0.0.
