Text on photos?

I am very new to using photoshop, and I have version 10.  I would like to put a small line of text on my photos, but none of the text I type (no matter the color) is showing up.  Can someone please explain how you put a line of text on a picture?  Thank you.

    Text size in PSE is dependent on the image resolution. If you have  high resolution image it often requires you to set the font size much larger than you would expect. Try a really large font size (say 72, or you can typ a larger number into the box instead of using the pulldown menu) and see if that makes a difference.

    Can you tell me if it is possible to add a watermark/signature to all of my photos?  Or will I have to add the text every time?

    Check out Process Multiple Files. That will let you put the same watermark or custom text on the images in one batch.
