Blueish cast when changing into monochrome.

I have noticed that each time I am changing my photos into monochrome the final result is always with blueish cast. What to do to achieve perfect white and black pictures and which way would be the best. Thank you for advice.

    How are you converting them to black and white?

    I go to Enhance tab in menu and then Convert To Black and White and then play with sliders accordingly, I also add adjustement layer with solid color in warm tones either as overlayer or color option to the pictures to neutralize the blue cast but still it is visible. Is it becuase the pictures were taken indoors with artifical light and the color temperature affects the photo during conversion?

    Neither Enhance...Convert to B&W nor Enhance...Adjust Color...Remove Color result in a blue colour cast, since they remove all colour information -- the colour temperature of the original photo makes no difference.

     

    Your monitor is probably set to display a bluish tone.  Use your system's video card options to set it up for a more neutral tone.

    Check the same image on any other machine or in any otehr software to confirm. try converting to B&W from any other app and verify the results.

    Thank you Ken, i guess that was the solution although whatever settings i change to ( not many) i get sickly tones.It is high time to upgrade to better monitor, the proper one for photography needs. Any recommendations??

    No recommendations for a monitor.  I suspect any good LCD display will be all right.  A new graphics card will probably be the largest part of the solution, too.  Been way too long since I shopped for one, so I can't give any pointers there, either.
