File Exporting Problem

hello illustrators

 

im given a logo in A.I,and i save it as an A.I file,but when i import it into indesign in the links panel it says format pdf

and it does not give me a colour space in the links info.

    InDesign does not import AI. It merely imports the PDF version of the AI file that is embedded in the AI file if you save the AI file with the "Acrobat Compatibility" option turned on. Turn that option off, and InDesign will not be able to import the AI file.
