I have read online about how media encoder can be used to capture and edit videos. Is this true?
Adobe Media Encoder isn't a full video editor like Premiere but you can make simple edits to source media, including Premiere sequences & After Effects compositions. Simple edits include trimming heads & tails, cropping the frame size, and adding markers to FLV/F4V export formats. You can't capture directly in Media Encoder; you'd need Premiere or another NLE for that.
