CS6 Won't open files - Program Error

When I try to open files in CS6, I get an error "Could not complete your request because of a program error."     I have restarted PS and rebooted the machine.

 

Running Mac OS 10.6.8

2.8 GHz   Core i7

12 GB Ram

 

The same files open fine on CS5.

    Have you tried resetting your preferences yet? FAQ: How do I reset my preferences?

    Did you rest the preferences?  File not affected by a re-install.

     

    Start PS and IMMEDIATELY hold down the Cmd + Option + Shift keys.  Should get a reset window.

     

    It is a little tricky, if you see the splash screen first you are too late.

    Prefs reset did not help.   I have not been able to open a file since install.   Thanks.

     

    The original install was stock.  I did choose to have presets installed from CS5.

    Did you copy/link your plug-ins by any chance? That can also cause issues. If you copied any plug-ins to your plug-ins folder, remove them. If you linked an additional plug-ins folder (In your Plug-ins Preferences), try unlinking it and restarting Photoshop.

    What type of files are you opening? This is happening for all files you try to open?

    If you go to Bridge  and right click do you have option to open in CS6.

     

    Or if in Bridge CS6 will image open in  PS CS6?

    Can we see your System Info log?

     

    And can you post the contents of ~/Library/Preferences/Photoshop CS6 Settings/PSErrorLog.txt ?

    There are no log files in the settings folder.

     

    Curt,

     

    I have the "Open in CS6" available in Bridge.   When I open a jpg from Bridge, same PS error.  If I open a CR2 in ACR, ACR is fine, but when I tell it "open image" (in ACR), ACR closes, and nothing happens in Photoshop.  No message.  If I double-click a CR2 image from bridge, I get the PS error.

    Same error regardless of file type.

    In Bridge CS6 edit/preferences/startup scripts do you have them all checked?

    If there was a program error, then the PSErrorLog.txt file should be in the settings folder.

    That file might tell us where the error is occuring. But without that file, we have no idea why your system is giving an error that nobody else is seeing.
