Scratch Disks

Apr 17, 2012 10:29 AM

I load my footage from sd cards directly in Windows without using Premiere. So, since I am not using Premiere to capture audio and video does it matter how I setup my scratch disks for Captured Video & Audio?

Personally I'd break out the RAID 0.  I don't consider them necessary unless you're working with Uncompressed HD (and even then a RAID 3 is still the better option).  Plus there is the greater risk of data loss with a RAID 0.

So what I'd do is this.

    C: System

    D: Projects

    E: Media

    F: Export

G: Scratch (Previews, Media Cache, etc.)

Use your largest drive for E: and the smallest for C:
