Changing the background of a mesh without messing up the rest.

Apr 18, 2012 5:31 AM

Hello, will be probably using all the wrong terms cause it's the first day I'm working with this. I was given an image that has a lot of 'mesh pieces'. So I'm supposed to change the color theme. I got as far as "Recolor Artwork" which does most of what I need. My problem is the black backgrounds in each of these pieces. From what I understood the guy who made this made a black rectangle and the put colot on the anchors. Now the black color is not in the "Recolor" collection of colors and if I try to recolor the whole piece it gets filled with a solid color removing the highlights.mess.png

I would like to change the black to a random color, preferably not a piece at a time ...

You'll need to edit the recolor options. Black is normally disabled from recoloring. You need to set it to editable.

see manual on how to do that.

With the Recolor Artwork window open hit the Edit button (to the left of Assign). Then you can adjust any colour by dragging the circles around the colour wheel.

Click to the right of the Black bar after the dash and below the other edit swatches you get this notice and click Yes

Then click on the new black edit color swatch at the right of the black color bar
