I have installed version 10. I have version 9 still on my computer.
When I add a video clip which contains audio it plays back fine in version 9 but not in version 10 (dead silence).
When I drag a video clip to the time line in version 10 it pops up the following message to which I respond 'Yes'.

What model of camcorder is this video coming from and what format and resolution is it?
Also, what are the project settings for your version 10 movie? (You can see them -- but not change them -- by going to the Edit menu and looking under Project Settings.) If you can post a screen capture of the video and audio settings screen, that would be best so we could have a good look at them.
But it's most important to know where the original video is coming from and what format and resolution it is.
Videos were captured with my old Casio EX-Z750

David,
You state that you "captured," from the Casio EX-Z750. Does it shoot on miniDV tape, and did you do the Capture via FireWire in PrE, or did you perhaps Copy the files from a flash-memory card of some sort, and then Import the files into the Project?
Good luck, and let us know a bit more, please.
Hunt
Your screen shows AVI and mpeg4... I don't think that will work
H.264 NOT inside AVI http://forums.adobe.com/thread/854115
OK, that is officially referred to as "Import," and not "Capture," which is a procedure of using minDV tapes, Captured via FireWire/IEEE-1394a connection into PrE.
Now, as John T. points out, the H.264 wrapped in an AVI is not the norm, but some camera mfgrs. seem to want to muddy the waters. PrPro users have encountered such, and have found that either re-warpping the H.264 in either MOV, or MP4, has done a good job. Also, converting to something that PrE can edit smoothly, is also helpful.
Good luck,
Hunt
David,
Are you saying that you could Capture in PrE 8, from a non-tape camera?
Capturing has always been done, only from a tape-based camera, via FireWire. This is no other way to Capture.
Now, Importing is a different operation. That is where one Copies the files from flash memory, either with a card-reader, or a USB cable. Those files are then Imported into the Project. With most flash memory cameras, one will need to Copy the full folder structure from the card (or built-in memory) to the computer, and then Import the AV files from within that original folder structure. There are other files in those folders, that are not directly Imported, but are used by PrE, so they are necessary too. This depends on the camera, and the format/CODEC, that it shoots in.
Good luck,
Hunt
