Can't Install. An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR

I can't install Adobe AIR. I'm getting the infamous error:

"An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."

  • I'm the administrator of the computer.
  • I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
  • I've tried the right-click-run-as-administrator solution and I'm getting the same error.
  • I've read Troubleshoot AIR installation | Windows and none of the solutions worked.
  • I'm installing the latest AIR version (I've tried older versions too)
  • I've tried Microsoft Install and Uninstall Fix It and AIR doesn't appear on the list of programs.

Here is my install log:

Unfortunately, the error is in the MSI portion of the installer.  This requires another log file to see what's going on.  Usually the Microsoft fix it takes care of this for us, but as you mentioned if AIR isn't in the list it's not very helpful.  Hopefully viewing the log will show us what's wrong and we can fix it.

Can you right click on the key and select permissions?  If so, make sure you give your user account full permissions and try deleting again.

Does it make any difference if you try to run regedit (regDALC or RegDelNull) by right clicking and selecting "run as administrator"?

Have you tried any registry repair utilities?  I unfortunately don't have any recent experience with these so I don't have anything I can recommend.  You might also want to post on a Microsoft board to see if they know how you might be able to repair your registry.

Kept having the same issues with the program until i checked the following things

    1. Go to Controll panel , see administrative services, then click Services

    2. Make sure the windows Installer service is Set to : Auto, and Enabled

    3. Extract the Adobe AIR Setup with an Archiver , I.e 7zip should be fine \

    4. Run setup after the extraction process.

    5. Be sure you run 32Bit version for 32bit machine  and 64Bit accordingly.

    Thanks

    Hi Armdev - I tried this using the setup.msi file but get an error message that says;

could not access network location (computed)

Again if I try to use the installer.exe pack I get the same old need admin permission message.

I also tried disabling the firewall and antivirus but no joy.

    I'm on xp pro version 2002 sp3

    ...any suggestions?

    Thanks for your help.
