Need solution to create rollovers with highlights on hotspots

Hi folks,

I would like to create a rollover function that has the following features:

1. Rollover hotspot is initially invisible

2. When user rolls mouse pointer over rollover hotspot, it highlight with my selected color for border&fill

3. Text box or image also simultaneously appears when I roll over each rollover hot spot.

I can get the rollovers to be transparent and when the user rolls over them, a text box will appear, but I cannot produce a highlight when rolled over functionality.

Any thoughts?

If you use a rollover slidelet, it can trigger an advanced action on rollover. In that advanced action you could either apply an effect or show another image that looks like a highlight.

Though rollover slidelets are quite handy, one issue you will encounter is that they can only trigger an action on rollover and click, not rollout. This means in your case that you can use the rollover slidelet to trigger a highlight effect when you rollover the area, but then you have no way to turn off that effect again when you move your mouse away. It's a fundamental oversight in the design of the rollover slidelet that Adobe didn't foresee the need to have both rollover and rollout events available for scripting.

One thing I've done since Captivate version 1 is to use the KISS approach. (Keep It Surprisingly Simple)

I create the slide exactly as I would want to see it when the mouse rolls over the rollover area. Then present that slide at full size and screen capture it. Then I insert a simple Rollover Image. The image I use is the image I captured.
