Opening files on a Mac from a PC

Apr 19, 2012 5:43 AM

My company recently switched me from a PC to a Mac. I am having issues opening any InDesign file. I am not however experiencing problems opening any files on the other platforms (photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver etc.). I am using the trial version of the software on my mac while we await our licensing to arrive in the mail. Any guesses as to what can be going wrong? (CS5.5)

It would be a lot easier for us to help you if you provided details of what is happening. It's very unlikley that the problem is the files themselves, and more likely some sort of configuration problem on the Mac.

Quit InDesign (force quit, if necessary).

Move the following folder to the desktop:

    Mac OS: [Startup Disk]/Library/Applications Support/Adobe/SING

Note: This is in the Library folder on the root of your startup disk. There is a similar path in your user folder, but that is not the path you need to work in.
    reopen the file and check

SING technoloy is used only in some Asian typesetting, so you probably won't miss it at all. This is a known problem that goes back for years, but I don't think there's ever been an explanation for WHY it happens, or it probably would have been fixed.
