Is there a user preferences file that can be backed up ?

Hi,

About to rebuild the PC and dont wish to lose any user preferences, wish to see my interface and settings as before. What should I backup and how to restore it ?

 

Is there a file and if so where is it ?

 

Flash Pro CS5

 

winXP sp3

    I believe the preferences are stored in a number of files.  The link below should help you find things...

    Hi,

    The emphasis on that seems about restoring prefs to default, but following the bit in there about Custom settings save and restore, sees my folder I copied out as 156Mb, has to be the biggest ever user prefs folder, all sorts in there !  1254 files 275 folders   doesnt seem right somehow but thats the address

     

    C:\Document and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application data\Adobe\FlashCS5\<language>\

     

    at this address is a folder called Configuration, and its massive !!!!

    If you look thru the folder(s) you will see it contains all of the preferences, both those you create yourself and those that are defaults.

    If there are folders in there that will do the job, it seems odd they say to back up the entire folder , 156Mb is massive.

     

    What are the folders manes that need backing up to restore interface configuration ?

    I'd have to do what you'll have to do to find out... look thru them.  You should be able to find one named/related to workspaces.

    workspace is an obvious one, but as to the rest, ????

    As long as the prog will work when the contents of this folder are copied across all well and good !
