Error deleting files from external drive

I'm trying to delete rejected photos from an external drive.

I keep getting the message:

"The files are on a volume that does not support Trash. Would you like to permanently delete them?"

I click "Permanently Delete Files" and nothing happens.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What is format on this external drive? Do you have full access permissions to the drive?

The format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I think I got it. It was on the folder permissions.
