Cannot open Sony A900 raw files in Photoshop Elements 10

new installation of elements 10, replacing elements 8.  Unable to open raw files (sony alpha 900)  adobe camera raw is not listed in the plug in menu, automatic updates is up to date, attempts to download camera raw 6.4 result in a message saying the update is not applicable to the application.

    yup, same as before, 'update is not applicable" have reinstalled elements 8 for now, can i have my money back on elements 10 please?

    The out of the box version is not up to date.

    In the Windows version I had to click "Help" in the menu  and there "look for updates" or something like this and it installed Camera Raw 6.6 almost automatically.

    I dont know what "mac app store' version is, I purchased the software online theough amazon.co.uk and it came in a box with 3 dvd's, dvd 1 was the windows version dvd 2 and 3 I think are the mac version, I'm using the windows version.  I have gone to the help/look for updates and the response is that there are no updates as the software is fully up to date.   I really dont expect to purchase software and have to spend hours trying to make it work....

    (My suspicion is that you'll need to perform Step #2 -- uninstall and re-install PSE.)

    yeah, thats done it, in the script it said that elements 10 can run alsongside other versions so i decided to run them side by side initially, but it appears this causes a camera raw conflict.  thanks

    In windows you can't really have more than one version open at a time, if that's what you mean, although you can have multiple versions installed on the same machine.

    It comes with a version of camera raw, and you can update it, but you have to do it manually by a rather involved process, rather than getting automatic updates via the adobe updater.

    Before going through the document it would be helpful to select the Help > Look for updates option. Some users reported it fixed the Camera Raw 6.6 problem automatically.

    Latest ACR update for PSE10 is 6.6 . Please check Adobe Camera Raw page on Adobe.com if Sony Alpha 900 is supported in this plugin or not.
