Best way to package captivate 5.5 files for iphone / ipad

Apr 19, 2012 6:13 AM

Hello,

Does anyone know the best approach to get captivate 5.5 files onto the iphone / ipad?

I'm aware of most of the technical stuff and have no problems with the certificates.

I came across a technique on a forum that describes how to using the PFI.BAT file within flash cs5, however, I only have CS5.5 and this feature has been removed.

So what is the best technique?

I was thinking of just importanting the export SWF into flash and using the flash SDK tools (which works fine for a basic hello world app I sucessfully deployed to my ipad). Is this the best way to do it? If so are there any requirements or do I just import the SWF?

Would apprciate your assistance!

with regards

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Yesterday you missed a webinar about creating a HTML5 (using converter) and an app (using Dreamweaver/PhoneGap) from a Captivate file. I think this webinar will be available shortly as a On-Demand webinar, it has been recorded.

The converter is still in beta, and not all interactions are supported yet, you'll have to be a bit more patient. But it is already way behind the pure video, indeed. However it is only meant to convert SWF's published with Captivate 5.5 - although it seems also to be mostly functional for CP5.0. Both versions only support AS3, so please get rid of your AS2 assets if you want to avoid crashes.

My way of learning Captivate was by trying to answer questions on this forum, bit weird...

PhoneGap is integrated in Dreamweaver, did see a demonstration on Windows.

Perhaps be a bit patient until next version of Captivate is released and the HTML-converter is optimized? For the moment the only authoring tool that has always published to HTML is Lectora. But software simulations are not up to the possibilities of Captivate.
