Brightness setting for monitor

Apr 20, 2012 11:46 PM

I just purchased Dell U2712M 24" monitor for my photo-edit in Lightroom 4. I found the factory setting is brightness: 75. I would like to have your opinion what level of brightness should I set?

You should calibrate your monitor with a colorimeter like a Spyder or anything alike.

The target brightness is usually about 130 cd/m2.

Second F. McLion! The coulor settings (defaults) of my Dell display where far away from when my Spyder profile is loaded into the GPU. Way too bright, too saturated, wrong color temperature. You'll be very disapointed when receiving images from a print service.

Warning: Understanding color management icc profiles etc. and "living" it cost me hours of browsing the web, reading and studying

But when you come the printing your images on your own printer on fine art paper it is crucial to dive into this. Otherwise it'll cost you even more time and money ( 5€ for an A3+ print that comes out wrong is a pain in the b***)
