Local adjustments - can you define an area

I like the new local adjustment tools in LR4 but it would be really useful to be able to accurately define an area - say a bright window frame so I can change the white balance and pull the exposure a little in a precise area that is different from the rest of the shot.

Is there a better way than just with the crude brushes available? Perhaps something similar to the PS pen tool?

No. Only brush (optionally with auto-mask).

Auto mask isn't working much for me at all

Then there's only the brush without auto-mask left.

In Corel AfterShot Pro there is.
