BC templates : Do they create DWT files?

Hi:

When I create a template in BC, are DWT files created? Where are they stored?

I thought I could download and edit the DWT file in Dreamweaver after creating the template in BC, but I don't see it anywhere.

Thanks,

Cam

No DWT files stored on the server, but if you use the BC Extension and download any site (or the templates folder for that site), the extension will create the DWT file during the download, and convert your DTW file into a BC template on upload.  It applies the applicable template to web pages on download, too, so your DW work is about the same as if you were working on some generic "rent-some-disk-space" server.

Are you using the BC Extension and DW to do the download?

If using another FTP client, you ill need to set the user name to be domain.com/user@you.com/dw -- it is the "/dw" that forces the creation of the DWT files.

If not working in DW, check your site settings and make sure the /dw is in the user setting for the site.  The BC Extension should have created the username that way, but if it didn't create the username, then it won't work.

If you edit the settings and add that, you'll be able to get it working again.

No - no need to delete anything on the server. Only real issue -- make sure you don't upload WITHOUT the /dw any files you downloaded WITH the /dw -- that will create a template within a template.

The server side should be getting updated correctly.

Without the /dw on the userid, your downloaded copy of the template will be templatename.html -- with the /dw it will be templatename.dwt.  The former is no longer relevant and won't be updated.
