What is the scribble selection tool?

Or simply the Lasso tool. It is free-hand after all.

Isn't it amazing how many possible answers there are for that question?

A new young lad came to our camera club last night, full of the gusto and self-assurance young folk who have just re-invented image editing seem to possess. He enthusiastically rubbished Photoshop proclaiming Lightroom to be FAR better than Photoshop and ACR because of ACR’s dreadful interface.  I told him that I never use LR because I can’t bare its limitations, and I have a strong feeling I can process a large batch of images as quickly with Bridge and ACR, as it could be done in LR. 

I then told him that the public beta of CS6 had just been released, and he fired up again complaining about the new UI colour scheme.  I did a quick double take before replying, “Is that the new colour scheme that brings Photoshop into line with Lightroom and Elements?”  He went mercifully quiet at that point, and I went in search of a less irritating conversation.

Isn't it amazing how many possible answers there are for that question?

I just downloaded PS Touch on my tablet yesterday.  One tutorial instructs to select "Scribble Selection Tool"; however, there is no such tool among the 7 tool icons (Marquee, Lasso, Magic Wand, Paint, Clone Stamp, Eraser and Blur).  In every other tutorial, the tool or function to be selected is precisely identified, including one directive to select the "Lasso Tool" -- doesn't seem like these would be the same tool... especially since the Scribble Selection Tool video done by Russell Brown shows an icon that looks different than the Lasso Tool icon.

Mea culpa -- I did not see a forum for Touch, being a newcomer, but saw references to the scribble selection tool.
