Can I access a PHP service without using Zend?

I want to be able to access PHP Services without using Zend Framework because I'm already using Yii framework for my project.

The reason I want to use services to that I can re-use them for mobile apps (in future). Not sure if that's in the right direction.

you can use the urlloader class (as3) or loadvars (as2) send data to and receive data from php scripts.
