Adobe Dreamweaver 8 slows down with Artisteer Web Template...how can I solve this?

    It's REALLY HARD to help you out without a live site to look at.

     

    Publish your template to Artisteer.net  Instructions are in the Artisteer help file.

    Then post the link to it here.

    I guess I will continue using the coder view, coz the .artx file did not save, and I do not have an account and stuff...

    You are welcome.

     

    When you succeed in capturing your template to your local machine, you can find some free temporary webspace

    (perhaps your own ISP offers some free space) and upload it.

     

    Than give us a link and we'll take a look.

    DW works fine for you in code view?

    Take a look in the View menu.

    Is there an option to "Display External Files"?

    If so, turn off the option.

    What specific version of DW8 are you running?

    Is it 8.0, 8.0.2?

    Some DW8 folks seem to have the "Display External Files" option in the View menu and some do not.

    Just trying to sort it all out.

    8.0 users won't see the command.

     

    Display External Files was added with the 8.0.1 updater.

     

    The 8.0,2 updater includes the 8.0.1 updater.

     

    Biggie_1969 must be running 8.0.1 or 8.0.2.

    Ah - that explains it all rather nicely.

    So for all you DW8 folks experiencing the "Dreamweaver not responding" issue in design view:

         Make sure you are running at least DW 8.0.1

         (updates can be downloaded from Adobe - here )

     

    Now you'll have the needed option to fix the problem:

         Menu: Command>Display External Files   <--- turn this off

    To clarify, below are screenshots from DW8 with the 8.0.2 update:

     

    The View menu does not contain an option to "Display External Files."  It's not in any of the sub-menus either.

    If you look under the Commands menu, you'll find "Display External Files" near the bottom.
