Use the same TV as computer screen AND external preview monitor

Apr 22, 2012 2:23 AM

Hi,

I've just set up my TV as a computer screen, and was just wondering if I really need to save that old CRT peview monitor. Is it in fact possible to switch mode on the TV to use it as an external monitor, for example when you want to show the client the film in full screen. My guess would be no, but before I give up I'll put the question out here.

I use a DVI-cable to connect with the TV and has connected my DV-camera through firewire with the computer, and also from the video/audio out from the camera to RCA-inputs on the TV. This is how I used to connect the old TV.

Any ideas are most appreciated! Or if you just want to set me straight, that's fine too.

Thanks,

Helena

    Try a setup like this:

Dual monitors connected with DVI, TV connected to DV deck with SCART, DV deck connected over firewire. No additional hardware required.

CS6 includes the new ability to show the Program Monitor full raster, without any GUI in the way.  Earlier versions of PP could not do this.

However, you may want to keep that old CRT for monitoring SD (via FireWire output) as flat panels cannot properly display an interlaced signal.

Jim, I am confused by this,  I have been looking at my second monitor full screen full resolution without any GUI for years now, so what is different or new about this?

    Harm, is that your setup?

If so, I can see you're still a beta tester, lucky you.

Can we finally output a DV(CAM) timeline via firewire without losing CUDA acceleration?

I think he is talking about when you use the tilde key.

so what is different or new about this?

You're doing it on a second screen.  CS6 allows you to so it with just one monitor.
