Replacing crop handles

Hi all,

I'm new here and in learning to use the picture cropping tools I inadvertantly removed 5 of the crop handles in the crop selection box. For the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to put them back. There must be some kind of crop preferences but so far I can't find it. Does somebody out there know how to put them back? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome David, bur are you sure you are in the correct Forum.

    Perhaps you wanted the Photoshop or Fireworks groups?

    Thanks for getting back Ken,

    In Dreamweaver when I click on a picture that I have loaded on a page a box appears around the pic that is supposed to have eight handles around it. Somehow I removed 5 of the handles. I'm trying to figure out how to put them back. I can't seem to locate the preferences for the box. Hope this helps.

    Hi Ken,

    Once again thanks for replying. I'm not sure what version you are using, but I probably should have mentioned that I'm using Dreamweaver version 5.

    What do you mean by "removed 5 of the handles"?

    Hi -

     

    Assuming these handles are for forcing HTML resize of image, (not a good idea)

    why not just ascertain the actual image size and enter in code view.

    Hopefully those days are behind us, Ken.

     

    The lightweight image editing tools in DW are stripped down Fireworks tools which properly edit images (not just via HTML parameters in the code).

    Hi John,

     

    Yes CS5. I would like to send you a screenshot, how do I do it? I quickly checked out sharescreen but it seemed as though it was interactive. I’ll check it out more thoroughly later as I can see can be very useful. A picture is worth a thousand words.

    Hi all,

    I took a pic of my screen hopefully it will upload

    Not the best but hopefully you get the idea. You click on the pic and only 3 of the 8 handles come up. Any ideas as to how to get the other 5 to come back?

    Hard to say without seeing the code. Is the image inside a div?

     

    I suspect the handles are there but perhaps hidden.

     

    Can you do the editing/cropping you need with the 3 handles you can see?

     

    PS best way to take a screenshot is to press the Print Screen (PrtScr) key on your keyboard.

    You can see the missing handles in the middle pic. Only the ones present work, the missing ones don't. Where did they go? Thanks fot the tip on the screen shot, learned something new today. Any ideas?

    Hi Dave -

    As mentioned, I don't have your version.

    Have you tried removing and re-inserting your image to see if all your handles return ?

    The image itself has only ever had the 3 handles as your image shows. Its the crop area that has the 8 handles. Draw a crop area over the image and you should get the 8 handles.

    Wow, so the 3 handles are default? The 8 do show up with the crop button. For some reason it seemed like my mental screenshot had all eight on the first click. Thanks for the help. D
