Viewing Protected PDF's

Oct 18, 2011 7:24 AM

My online school locks their PDF files using Protectedpdf by Vitrium Systems. These documents require Adobe Reader to login and unlock the document upon opening the file; however I'm unable to enter my user name and password into the document (doesn't support forms?). After entering my credentials they are validated via the internet with my school and the document is unlocked. Is this a feature that could be incorporated into a future release?

    Hey Gaurav,

My name is Atul Raval and I am trying to bring Indian literature on iOS via http://www.ekatrabooks.com/. Ekatra Books is an amazing way to browse, download and read books as well as listen audio books from Indian Subcontinent.

We have developed iPhone and iPad apps. But I would like to update our pdf reader with your pdf reader for iOS. Can you help us to update our currant app? Our fonts are non Unicode so all our books are in simple password protected pdfs. And I am looking for better pdf reading experience on iPad, iPhone and Android.

Please let me know if you can able to help us to update our existing app with updated pdf reader. You can visit iPad app here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ekatra-books-for-ipad/id419845702?mt=8

    Thanks.

Thank you for asking this question ltdr1ryder. I was trying to open an ebook from UOP and was getting really frustrated, but now I know it's not something that I am doing wrong. It sure would be nice to be able to view the ebooks from the iPad and hopefully adobe will fix this soon!

Great...Thank you for this info ltdr1ryder! I'm with you on wondering why Adobe didn't integrate the feature in their app, but this is a way for them to make a few dollars. Thanks again I guess I will be getting Pro...Have a good day!

I contacted UoP about an app to view the protected files. They recommended I download PDFReader Pro. The app works great and you can unlock the PDF's. Only problem is the app isn't free, but its worth it to be able to view the e-books on your device. I don't know why Adobe couldn't have integrated this feature with their app?
