I am switching from FCP to Premiere Pro. I have a 15in MacBook Pro with 4gb of Ram. When I run premiere pro (the trial), the playback skips a bit. I have a memory app that tracks and frees up my memory. When I am using Premiere Pro, my memory runs down between 550mb to 900mb. I free it up, but it just goes right back a few minutes later. Would it help to add 4gb of memory or is this something else I need to upgrade?
advice on the firewire 800 disks: make sure you get a 7200 rpm disk or higher. that will help a lot! I actually just bought this:

good luck!
That one is a bit to pricey for me. I am a college student so im broke. Would this be a reliable one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822205086
Yes, that does look good and fulfills the requirements!
I did check some reviews and it did have mixed reviews; some good and some bad.

Knowing what to believe and not believe is the hard part. I went with mine because I got it from B&H which has free shipping and excellent customer support - even tho it might be higher priced.
Whatever you end up with, good luck with it and I hope it works flawlessly!
