Change color of Scratch Area?

I have a very simple question, but there seems to be a very elusive answer. My problem has been trying to snag it.

My question is : How do you change the color of the scratch area (in AI CS5.5)?

Please note - I'm looking to change the color of the "Scratch Area", which is the work area outside of the page. I know how to change the color of the page itself.

Can anyone help?

    Thanks Scott. Has anyone else found a way to do this, or something similar? Even with a 3rd party plug-in or something?

    As a workaround you could cobble it together by modifying the transparency grid colours and using a white rectangle the same size as your artboard. You'd have to turn on the Transparancy grid, of course.

    Confusing, no. I was just curious if anyone had found a workaround or anything. Illustrator, these days has gotten more and more like Photoshop, where there are about 5 different ways to do just about anything. I was just hoping someone had found something. Thanks though.
