Videos, Media Do Not Play On IE

I have tried countless times to download the Flash Player, and it says it completed. However, I go on to articles with videos, and it says I need to update my Flash Player. I am extremely frustrated that this can not even play a single video. Plus, when I went to "Help" on here, it said I would see "Error" in a box if I had one. The box was blank. Could someone please help me out? I'm using IE9.
