links do not work

I am having a problem with links to pdf and word documents. When I view it from Dreamweaver they work. But when I view the page from the web they do not. They seem to be targeting a link starting with http: I've inserted the link every way I know how. It appears to look correct in Dreamweaver and also when I preview it. But not on the web.

Shouldn't be that hard. You may have missed the folder the file is in

Maybe you've used absolute links/ relative links in accordance with your local system's folder entity.
