CS6 Edit Menu

Apr 22, 2012 9:44 AM

Does anyone else find the edit menu to be a little annoying. I don't like how it covers the other menu options. If I'm scrolling over I have to unclick the menu or click a different menu that's still showing to see the menus blocked by the edit scroll down menu.

Not sure what you mean... how does the Edit Menu behave differently from other menus?

Do you mean you don't like that it covers the autoselect checkbox? I too do not get what it covers that you do not like. If you need the edit menu, then you make your selection in the pull down and it goes away. Anything it covered is again available.  What else would you have it do?

It does not act that way on my Win7 machine.  Looks like the other drop down menus.

Why is the menu so big?  If covers more than the whole screen?  Mine is more in scale with the other drop down menu.

Like Curt said, this is not normal behavior - see screenshot from my Windows 7 below.  Have you done the normal troubleshooting steps (updating display drivers, etc)?

Of course, why do you ask?  I have a correctly functioning version.

Looks like a monitor resolution problem to me.  Your screen is not big enough, so the Edit menu has to be bumped up a bit to fit in there.

Can you set your screen resoloution higher? This only seems to happen at lower, non-recommended screen resolutions. If I go low enough for my computer to complain I am at a resolution that is not recommended, then I also can make this happen.... but windows warns me that everything may not fit on the screen, as you have seen happen.

I'm inclined to agree with station_one here, likely a lower resolution issue causing the menu to be pushed up a little bit.

See if you can increase your display resolution.

Option B here would be to remove some menu items from the edit menu using Edit > Menus

hide some options from the edit menu, and it'll probably size properly.

As per the cs6 system requirements that screen resolution of 1366x768 is within specs.

I do recall that camera raw 6.6 had a problem with that same screen resolution in cs5.

Another option that seems to work for some is to set the windows 7 theme to windows classic.

Rachael, are your UI font size set to big in your preferences?

Does setting the task bar to auto-hide fix it, too?

R_Kelly, the aero task bar is eating too many vertical pixels, you mean?
