Elements tags into Lightroom keywords AND maintain structure?

Apr 26, 2012 2:28 AM

Hi, I would like to move from using Elements to using Lightroom. Whilst I realise that I can import my catalogue and photos, which should also create all my keywords, I am concerned that the existing keywords/tags parent/child structure would be lost? They would be created as a single contiguous list?

Can anyone confirm this is the case, and if so, does anyone know how to go about moving the tags across whilst maintaining the original structure AND remaining associated with the correct photos?

Thanks,

Gareth

I moved from elements to Lightroom last year.

The catalogue structure remained exactly the same.

Just use the menu option in LR to import your elements catalogue which will convert it.  It is on the File menu somewhere.

Just to add to what Jeremy2 said:

You do NOT import the photos. Let me say that again. You do NOT import the photos.

You use the menu command File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog
