Allow Backward Movement in Quiz causes an issue

Apr 26, 2012 8:34 AM

I have a slide in which the user listens to audio, then I have a question slide (Hot Spot) regarding the audio. I want them to be able to listen to it again before answering the question. So I've allowed backward movement. But when they come back to the question slide the review shows "you have not completed this question" and doesn't offer the option to do so. I'm in Captivate 5 on a Windows 7. Any suggestions?

Once a user is on a question slide, he has to exhaust the attempts that you gave on question level, that is the way quizzes are designed.

If you allow multiple attempts on Quiz level, user will be able to Retake after having finished the Quiz, but all answers (correct and incorrect) will have been reset.

Only workaround to be able what you want is to create a custom question slide instead of using the default quiz slides.

The only functionality of that button is that the user can go back to see which answers he has submitted on previous questions. Personally I will mostly not add the Back button to avoid confusion for the user.

I suggest you use a rollover caption or rollover image on the question slide and attach the audio to the part that appears on rollover.  Maybe add an extra caption or graphic to tell the user they can hear the audio again at any time by rollover.  What I like about using rollover objects to provide audio this way is that it immediately shuts off when the user has heard enough, and they are not subjected to it unless they want it.
