I stumbled across this issue just yesterday, it is only RoboHelp that has the problem... no other applications on the PC are doing this.
When I was attempting to replace an image by clicking image properties, then using the "browse" or file location button on top right of the image properties window... first the window would grey out (as though a new window was going to/had opened)... then... nothing.
all control was taken away from the app, from the window/palette before me (the image properteis window)... so I eventually discovered that I could regain control by hitting "esc" key... which made me think that the software "thought" a window was open... or somehow it was opening beyond my viewable are of the desktop... so I pulled back to only one monitor... still nothing.
I cannot find the window if it is opening to browse for image files...
Also... I cannot even see a window open when I click "Open" from the file menu!
Anyone? Just happened yesterday...
Have noticed some updates/upgrades for Adobe Air, Acrobat maybe?
I'm stuck... cannot do work right now.
help?
Hi there
Perhaps this trick will help.
Do the file browse thing where it appears to lock up.
Press Alt+Spacebar and release both keys.
Presss M. (selects the Move command)
Press any arrow key.
Wiggle the mouse around a little and see if the window pops into view.
Cheers... Rick

Try resetting your workspace?

Thanks Jeff... I didn't have the vernacular (what to search for) so I couldn't find the answer... "reset the workspace" would have been enough for me to ferret out an answer... but I didn't have to go searching since Captiv8r gave me a full solution... thanks so much for the help tho!

Not sure that the reset would have worked for you – I’ve seen other reports where windows got “lost” and a reset of the workspace didn’t help.

I didn't even have the proper vocabulary to allow me to help myself!
Annoying... I knew that such a thing was "out there" but didn't have the germ from which to find to a solution!
Anyway... I think the original issue (that got Windows off track) was that there are different monitor drivers vying for control of my screens... I cannot seem to uninstall the Dell one that came with my office PC in favor of the proper one that came with the video card I installed... and therefore I (every day) must reset my screens after boot-up... and I think the workspace was somehow mis-plotted.
Ugh! Undocumented feature of barely tested software... love the whole IT realm = release software @ beta stage to keep up with the market and allow the users to find problems (as well as solutions) for you!

Thanks Captiv8r...
As i suspected... the window *was* open somewhere... just not anywhere viewable! As soon as I knew how to move the window/ gain control of the window/ reset the location of the window... however you wanna look at/ say it... I was home free!
The problem was (as it often is) with Windows.
Thanks!

Hi all
I'm hoping you will take the time and report this as a bug. The dev team should be able to control where these windows open. RoboHelp should be able to manage this so the dev team needs to look into it. (bug reporting link is in my sig)
Cheers... Rick
