How can I read PageMaker 5 files?

Feb 26, 2010 4:41 PM

I have some old PageMaker 5 files from long ago. I don't want to buy an expensive PageMaker or InDesign license just to read a few old files. Is there any kind of converter to Word, or OpenOffice, or PDF?

Thanks.

Download the 30 day demo of PM7 and do whatever you need to get the info out of the files.

Bob, do you know if you can load the PM7 trial on a computer using Windows 7? I tried and it won't install. It sounds like you would need to be using Vista or an earier OS correct? My issue is we have old PM5 files that need to be converted to InDesign for editing, but I can't open them in CS3 or CS5. Thanks - Sean

As this thread shows, there are people who report installing and using PM faultlessly in Win 7 machines. However, this seems to be a matter of luck.

Do you have a WinXP PC?  You should be fine with that.

I think we should note here that if those PM5 files were created on a Mac, then PM 7 Win, will not open them.
