how can I force an image to load whenever the link to it is clicked?

I have an HTML page with jquery loading images in model boxes when icons are clicked. If the page remains open, how can I make the jquery images (on a remote server) load the most current versions every time the link is clicked?

These images are of traffic cams, so I need th very lasted version to be loaded whenever the icon is clicked, even if the page is't refreshed/reloaded.

This is used in an iPhone app, so the link here will look a little oversized!

Would a nocache metatag or an instruction in a robots.txt file do it?

'fraid not, I have a 'no cache' setting in this page already, I need the links to the cam images to load afresh every time they're clicked. I think the trouble is that I'm using JQuery, and that might be stopping this from working, but I need to use it for the effect I want.

How about adding a query string variable to the JQuery code
