How do you remove the active stroke when on a layer/shape?

Alright so a rather simple question but I can not seem to find the answer anywhere.

I am trying to remove this black line (look at the picture)

It appears on active shapes and layers; it prevents me from seeing how my stroke is going to look, what my shadow looks like, messes with alighnment. I just want it gone. It was in Photoshop CS3, removed in Photoshop CS4 and 5 (5.5), but now it is back.

Thanks,

Tyler.

    iitylernallen,

Another suggestion would be to hit the "enter" key while you have one of the pen tools selected, or direct path selection tool selected. This will toggle the viewable shape boundary.

    Cheers,

    Pete
